Internships

We offer interns from both healthcare and non-healthcare related schools the opportunity to gain practical experience through an internship as part of their vocational training. The underlying principle is that the interns learning objectives align with the internship positions granted within the hospital.

For healthcare-related internships, agreements have been made with several educational institutions regarding the number of internship positions. These internship positions are distributed among the different departments within the HOH. Healthcare-related internships include:

  • Internships for MBO- and HBO-level nurses;
  • Internships for (para)medical programs for orientation in healthcare provision.
We're SBB accredited

In addition to internship positions in healthcare, there are also internship positions available in supporting departments. These include the following educational programs:

  • Administration, vocational and higher professional education (MBO and HBO);
  • Social Work, higher professional education (HBO);
  • Facility management, higher professional education (HBO);
  • Facility services, lower vocational education (LBO);
  • ICT, vocational education (MBO);
  • (Medical) Secretary, level four (MBO);
  • Engineering (various programs).

Application process

If you are interested in an internship position, please send a motivated letter through our portal. Clearly state your education program, learning objectives, duration of the internship, and the number of hours per week you are available for the internship.

Career exploration

Career exploration in our hospital involves observing and following a healthcare professional or staff member as they go about their daily work activities. The purpose is to provide an educational opportunity for individuals to explore and gain insight into healthcare professions or roles within a hospital environment.

It's important to note that job shadowing experiences are observational in nature and do not involve direct patient care or hands-on tasks.

We have a specific set of requirements due to legal and safety considerations. These are:

  • A minimum age requirement of 16 years;
  • Prior to participating in the career exploration experience, individuals are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Application process

To initiate the career exploration application process, write an email to HOH Academy athohacademy@hoharuba.com. In the subject line, clearly state your intention, for example: "Job Shadowing Request." Address the email to the internship office.

  • State your request and department of interest

In the body of the email, clearly express your request for career exploration at HOH. Specify the department or departments you are interested in. This will help ensure that you are aligned with your desired area of focus and maximize your learning experience.

  • Provide personal information

Include your full name, place of birth, and date of birth as they appear on your legal identification documents. This information is essential to facilitate the necessary administrative procedures and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

  • Await contact from the internship office

After submitting your email, patiently await a response from the internship office at HOH Academy. They will contact you to provide further instructions and discuss the logistics of organizing the career exploration experience. Ensure that your contact information is accurate and readily accessible.

Prepare for the career exploration day

Prior to your scheduled career exploration day, make sure to gather the necessary identification documents. On the day of your shadowing experience, the internship coordinator will check your ID or passport to verify your identity. Follow any additional instructions provided by the coordinator to ensure a smooth and successful experience.
